Top Ways to Generate Income on a Flower Farm

While doing my research getting ready to start a flower farm, I ran into a lot of dead ends when it came to ideas on making money. Across most industries you can often find “money talk” as taboo and something nobody talks about. I have learned that there is plenty to go around, and I’d love to see more people able to generate serious profit off of their farms so I am sharing a few ways I bring income in at Gray Girl Farms.

1) U-Pick Events : People love experiences, and most times are willing to pay for them. You can schedule them in a way that fits your lifestyle and at times that work best for you.

2) Photography Time slots : Flowers are beautiful, and the truth is I am not the only person that thinks so! Photographers love the backdrops on the farm and so do their customers. Again, these time slots can be scheduled at your leisure.

3) Cut Flower Sales: Whether it is subscription sales, or selling bulk buckets for florists or DIY’ers. I am in the business of moving flowers and I like to do it to return customers that I know love my product.

One thing these three options have in common. They can be designed at your own leisure. That is a key component for my business structure. I want my business to work around my family and our life, instead of scheduling my family around the flower business.
